The program comprises 120 ECTS credits spread over 2 years and allows students to follow a common core hosted by Stockholm University and taught by educators from the 11 partner universities of the CIVIS alliance, along with a few lecturers from partner African universities, during the first semester of the first year of the Master's program (semester 1).
The second semester of the first year (semester 2) and the first semester of the second year (semester 3) will consist of thematic courses involving two different universities. Each semester corresponds to 30 ECTS of coursework so that each Stream offers a coherent training of 60 ECTS, with pedagogical, administrative, and logistical compatibilities (alignment of the academic calendars of the universities involved) ensured.
At the end of each Stream, the second semester of the second year of the Master's program (semester 4) will be dedicated to the completion of a thesis worth 30 ECTS. This thesis must demonstrate a multi- or transdisciplinary approach and must be carried out on a topic related to the themes of the Master's program while making use of the tools and skills acquired during the training. The thesis will be hosted by one of the universities involved in the Stream followed by the student, or by Stockholm University.
